A mandatory Parent Information Meeting will be held on Monday, March 15th at 7pm in AHS Cafeteria “A”.

The 1st installment of the Program Fees will be due on that date – see the “Membership” page for the Spring 2010 Program Fee Invoice.

Arlington Crew’s 2010 Spring Season begins on Monday, March 8th.

Team practice will be held from 18:00 to 20:00 at Arlington High School.

Reminder : A Sports White Card must be turned in to the Health Office and approved before an athlete is allowed to practice with the team.

There will be a NYS Boating Safety Course held at the HRRA Boathouse on March 14th, 0800-1600.

ALL Arlington Coxswains that DO NOT have a valid NYS Boater Safety Certification will be required to attend.. If they do not attend, they will not cox this season.

Course description: HRRA, along with the Westchester County Police sponsors a NYS Boating Safety Course on Sunday, March 14 from 8am to 4pm. This one day clinic is taught by a member of the Westchester County Police special operations and participants in this clinic will earn a lifetime boating safety certificate which is required of all individuals driving a motorized boat. Space is limited for this clinic and priority is given to regional scholastic, collegiate and club coaches and HRRA members. We encourage coxswains and scullers to attend this clinic as well. There is an additional fee payable to New York State that you will send in to receive your certificate.

Hudson River Rowing Association is offering a free “Learn to Row” workshop on Sunday February, 21st from 9am to 11am at the Community Boathouse. They will be giving you a taste of what rowing offers as a recreational or competitive lifetime activity. It is open to everyone in the Hudson Valley and pre-registration is required.

Introduction to Crew

Do you want to join the crew team but don’t know what’s it all about?

Arlington Crew invites you to “Introduction to Crew” – a program for first time rowers and their parents. Come learn about the sport and the Arlington Crew team.

The program will be held on Saturday, February 6th, 9:00 am to 11:00 am, at The Community Boathouse, 270 North Water St. Poughkeepsie NY.

Novice Crew at Arlington:

Novice denotes a first year rower/coxswain (not your academic year). As novice you learn about the sport, technique and terminology. Novice will learn to row or cox on the ergometers (land rowing machines), rowing tanks, then on the river.

No previous experience or boating knowledge is required to be a successful rower; it just takes effort, commitment and a lot of fun. The first year rowing is all about learning and participation. We make a strong effort to give everyone the opportunity to row on the water during practice (weather permitting) and to participate in regattas (races).

Consolidated Winter Training starts Jan 5th

A message from Coach Stasaitis :
Winter training will start on Tuesday, January 05, 2010 at 1700 at the Boathouse. Participates are expected to arrive on time ready to work. There will be an erg test during this session. The details of the program will be explained this evening.

Consolidated Winter Training Program

A message to all Arlington JV and Varsity Rowers:

A consolidated winter training program will be offered at the HRRA Boathouse starting on January 05, 2010 and running through March.

The schedule will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1700 to 2000.
The cost will be $60.00 per athlete.
The coaching staff will be Andy Mauer, Justin Feldman, Paul Stasaitis, Erik Haight, Mark Dinges, Harry Harrington, and Frank Baldascino.

All Arlington Varsity and Junior Varsity rowers are encouraged to attend.
