The Hudson River Rowing Association announces that as of Friday, May 4th of this year, they will be charging $5 per car for Regatta parking. The 2012 local races that will be affected are:

Friday – 5/4/2012 - Scholastic Regatta – Triangular’s 4:00 PM

Saturday – 5/5/2012 - Scholastic Regatta – Triangular’s 4:00 PM

Saturday – 6/2/2012 - Scholastic Regatta – HVRL Championships 6:00 AM

Saturday – 6/3/2012 - Scholastic Regatta – Row for the Cure 6:00 AM

Seasonal (spring) passes will be offered for $10 that can be purchased in advance or at any regatta.

Every dollar collected for parking, less the cost of printing the passes, will be used to pay down the $340,000 mortgage HRRA has for the facility. They apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but the HRRA board felt this avenue was preferable to possibly raising the rent more than necessary to pay down this debt.

A seasonal pass will be provided, as a refund once purchased, to anyone (as a service donation) for volunteering and working a 2.5 hour parking detail for one regatta event. Please sign up for this volunteer activity by signing up at the web page in the following link in advance:

http://www.hudsonriverrowing.org/

Accommodations for exemption to the parking fee are being made for any tenant Athlete that has a practice on a day when a regatta is scheduled.

Below is additional details made available today,(April 30, 2012):

1. All cars will be charged the parking fee , even cars with food trailers. Coaches from tenant teams are exempt ( I think they get a parking pass) and buses and trucks with shells are also exempt.

2. We are not charging for rescheduled events

3. Spectators that buy a parking pass for the season can come and go as they please during an event, daily rates there is no leaving without paying to get back in.

4. There is no free parking anywhere on site – if someone really wants to avoid supporting the boathouse and not pay the $5 they can park in the public lots at the train station/Waryas Park and walk – similar to Saratoga. Marist will close their access on regatta days and they tow unauthorized vehicles and the Metro North lots on Water Street will also be patrolled and ticketed so I would advise people not to try parking in those areas – it will cost more than $5.

5. Athletes that are being dropped off should be dropped off on water street – there are stairs by the Vassar club house. Pick up will probably not be an issue since we are collecting for the first 4 hours – any time after 10am or 7pm people will generally be able to drive through.

6. Parking passes will be sold at the May 1st regatta and yes they will also be available from the parking attendants at each regatta.

All proceeds from parking will go toward paying down the boathouse mortgage which helps keep costs down for all of the teams in the boathouse so we hope everyone will be supportive of this endeavor
