Food Tent

It is a necessity and tradition for crew teams to provide meals at regattas. Most regatta locations do not provide food vendors, so it is essential that crew teams provide their own food.  Currently, there are not enough volunteers to continue this practice. We need your help. There are a variety of ways that you can help the food tent committee. Some examples are set-up, cooking, serving, seeking donations, clean-up, and maintenance.
The committee will be meeting at 1830hrs on Monday, March 27 in the Boathouse meeting room. If you are interested in volunteering for the food tent, please plan on attending to help our rowers be the best that they can be. Let’s show our rowers the spirit of teamwork and community.


No other sport requires the teamwork and coordination as crew. Rowers must all contribute equally to the success of the boat and team. To foster this, crew coaches demand dedication, hard work, awareness of others, community, and persistence.
There is no better way to teach our children these lifelong skills than to openly demonstrate them. There is no greater honor than to be a role model and inspiration to our children. Arlington Rowing Association needs you to fulfill this obligation to the team. ARA needs volunteers to ensure the success of our program. There are many volunteer opportunities but the most in need is the Food Tent. Please consider this opportunity to help our team.



With the start of the 2011 Fall Season we have implemented a new Food Tent system based primarily on volunteer donations.  As part of the 10-hour Family Volunteership program expected from each Rower’s family, we will be accepting food donations for the upcoming races.  Below is a general list of food items that will compose the menus throughout the season.  Each week a more detailed list of items needed for the next race will be posted for volunteer sign-up.  Please check back to make your hours count!  And don’t feel limited by the list below, we always welcome healthy suggestions.

ARA Food Tent Donations

  • Baked Egg Dishes (no meat)

  • Mixed Berry or Fruit Oat/Granola Crisp

  • Cold Cereals: Small boxes
  • Fresh Fruit: Bananas, Strawberries, Cantaloupe, Seasonal Fruits

  • Sirloin Hamburgers with Whole Wheat Buns
