Fund Raisers

Spring 2010

Through the fundraisers, each athlete will have the opportunity to defray his/her individual program costs as well as raise needed funds for our program’s general expenses, boathouse rent, equipment, etc. With expenses increasing each season, ARA is continually looking for ways to not increase the cost to our rowers. If you decide not fund raise for your own athlete’s benefit, please consider fundraising for the club. Most order forms are available at the practices and off the website’s Forms page.

  1. ARA Car Wash: Saturday April 10th at Arthur S. May School on Raymond Ave.
    • The event will run from 9:45 AM – 3:15 PM. Athletes can sign up at practices. Varsity/JV athletes will work 9:45 AM – 1:00 PM and Novice will work Noon – 3:15 PM. Athletes will split the profit to help to defray their program fees. Bring sponges and old towels if you have them. Contact: Joyce Quattrociocchi, 635-2784 (JAQ618@aol.com).
  2. BJs:
    • This fundraiser runs through April 4th. For every BJ’s Membership we sell or renew, BJ’s will donate $5 to ARA. Plus, we sell the memberships/renewals at a $10 discount, the membership will run 15 months instead of 12, and a free 2nd membership card is thrown in. Applications are available at practices.   3. Gertrude Hawk Chocolate Bars:
    • Boxes of single chocolate flavors or the “Gertrude Hawk Variety pack” are to be preordered* with payment of $26.40 per box up front. There are 48 bars of chocolate per box with each bar sold for $1. Sale proceeds ($21.60/box) will benefit your rower. Payment and order form are due back no later than April 14th. Chocolate should be available for pick up starting approximating April 22nd. Chocolate may be sold at school! Contact Terry Boniello, 471-8920 (tmboniello@aol.com).
  4. Spring Mother’s Day Plant Sale:
    • This has been a great fund raiser with many repeat customers. Teachers love to buy these plants! And Sabellico’s is providing the plants for us at 2009 prices! Ordering begins the week of March 15th. Money is collected at the time of the order. Orders can be returned to Mrs. Boniello, or the lock box at the Boathouse, or mailed to Mrs. Boniello, 30 Greenvale Farms Rd., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Orders and money are due no later than Monday April 5th (note: this is just after Spring Break). Athletes will make $5 per plant sold to help defray their program fees. Plant pick up will be Saturday, May 1st from 11 AM – 1:00PM at Sabellico’s. Contact: Terry Boniello, 471-8920 (tmboniello@aol.com).
  5. The ULTIMATE Discount Cards:
    • The ULTIMATE discount card offers two sides worth of coupons (usually 24) that work every day for one entire year (through April 1, 2011). Start taking orders for cards NOW; the cards will be available March 24th (a flier and order form are available). Cards cost $10 a piece. Athletes will earn $4 per card towards their program fees. New this year ..TGIFridays and Sonic! Fliers are available at practices or click here for a printable version. Orders can be given to Mrs. Boniello, Mrs. Parrella, or the Lock Box at the Boathouse.   6. Water Bottles:

ARA is pleased to announce a new fund raiser for Arlington Crew! We are now selling a 24oz Stainless Steel Water Bottle in 2 laser engraved designs. These water bottles are odor & stain resistant, non-leaching, and BPA free. Each gift boxed bottle is only $15. All proceeds will support the Arlington Rowing Association, Inc. general fund. Water bottles will be sold at the Boathouse, all ARA events, and by placing orders by contacting Terry Boniello (471-8920) tmboniello@aol.com.

NEW FOR THE FALL- Thanksgiving Raffle:

Arlington Crew is raffling a 20lb. QUATTRO’S FARM RAISED FRESH TURKEY and a THANKSGIVING DINNER FIXINGS BASKET to benefit the Arlington Rowing Association, Inc. general fund. The prize is valued at over $150. Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. They will be sold at all ARA Fall events, at the Boathouse, and through Arlington Rowing Association members. Gertrude Hawk Chocolate:

Gertrude Hawk Candy Bars: Variety boxes of Gertrude Hawk chocolate bars are available starting September 20th. Each box contains 48 bars. Money, $48 per box, will be collected upfront. We have created our own assortment this year; each bar is $1. A rower will be credited $21.60 per box (45% of the sale) to defray their program fees. This is a very successful fundraiser. Please note: 1. Chocolate can not be returned.  A total of 100 boxes  have been purchased. Chocolate is available on a first come, first serve basis.
